Album Review
The inception of Aunt Bettys was Michael Knotts attempt at crossing over into the mainstream market. Well, looking back years later, I guess it didn't quite pan out like he had hoped it would. After decades of pumping out album after album, Michael has quite a great catalog of good albums. In fact I've never stumbled across one that I didn't like, maybe that's due to the fact that he never seems to take any kind of risks when writing them. You would think that when you decide to start another band your style of music would change, this isn't the case with Michael Knott. He seems to have managed to record a lot of albums under different monikers, the sad thing is they all seem to sound so alike, I can hardly tell the difference between most of them. So you should know where I am going with this review.

The problem with the Aunt Bettys is that they sound like most any other regular band that has flashed its face to the public in the past 20 years or so. Don't get me wrong, this self titled debut is a good one, but they have failed to write enough great songs to make me want to pick it up and give it a spin over and over again. Sure I might throw it in every blue moon or so, but with how fast paced most Americans now live, and with our lack of time to go with it, I find myself wanting to scale back my music collection, only keeping the albums I can't go too long without having to punch one in to get a quick fix. Sure with songs like "Lush" and "Feel" , I find myself singing out loud to them and a couple of others. At the end of the day though, this album falls just a little too short to maintain my attention span for more than 20 minutes. It still contains many good songs well worth repeated listens.
